EU Tyre Labels: What Do They Mean?
In 2012, the EU introduced a labelling system for tyres sold within member states, requiring manufacturers to clearly display crucial information regarding a tyre’s performance in testing. The labelling system focuses on three key performance aspects – wet grip, fuel efficiency and noise emissions.
The first two of those factors are graded on a descending A-G scale similar to the one used for rating the energy efficiency of household appliances. Noise emissions are rated on a one-to-three decibel scale to determine if these comply with updated EU regulations.
Our infographic looks in detail at the EU tyre labelling system and how you can determine if a tyre is worth purchasing.
